  • Raw material preparation

  • Machining

  • Rough processing: Clamp the blank on the CNC lathe and perform rough processing operations such as outer circle, end face, chamfering, etc., leaving a processing allowance of 0.5mm-1mm for subsequent fine processing. If the bucket pin needs to be drilled or threaded, rough processing is also performed at this stage.

  • Finishing: Use high-precision grinders and other equipment to finish the bucket pins, ensuring that the diameter tolerance of the bucket pins is controlled within ±0.01mm, the cylindricality is controlled within ±0.005mm, and the surface roughness reaches Ra1.6-Ra0.8μm.

  • Heat treatment

  • Quenching: Put the finished bucket pins into the quenching furnace and heat them to the appropriate temperature, such as 800℃-850℃ for medium carbon steel and 850℃-900℃ for alloy steel, and then quickly put them into the coolant to cool.

  • Tempering: There is a large internal stress inside the bucket pin after quenching, and tempering treatment is required to eliminate the internal stress and stabilize the structure and size. The tempering temperature is generally between 550℃-650℃, and the specific temperature and holding time are determined according to the material and performance requirements.

  • Surface hardening treatment: Induction quenching or nitriding treatment is often used. Induction quenching uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to quickly heat the surface of the bucket pin to the quenching temperature, and then quickly cools it to form a high-hardness martensitic structure on the surface; nitriding treatment is to penetrate nitrogen atoms into the surface of the bucket pin to form a nitride layer with high hardness and good wear resistance.

  • Surface treatment

  • Rust and oil removal: Use chemical cleaning or shot blasting to remove rust, oil and impurities on the surface of the bucket pin to prepare for subsequent surface treatment.

  • Anti-corrosion treatment: Common treatments include galvanizing, nickel plating, and blackening. Galvanizing can form a zinc layer on the surface of the bucket pin to improve corrosion resistance; nickel plating can make the surface of the bucket pin have good gloss and corrosion resistance; blackening treatment forms a black oxide film on the surface of the bucket pin, which plays a certain role in rust prevention.
